Today I was planning on some super fun inspiration for all of you. I chose to help a friend out instead. From talking with her, I found myself contemplating happiness and this 'perfection' that many people strive for.
It's hard to realize that nothing is perfect. Sure, in fairytales and movies things always work out in the end, but let's be honest, that just isn't realistic. I wanted to post this, not only for my friend, but maybe there is someone else out there that needs to hear this too:
There is no such thing as a "perfect" life and that's ok. Happiness is relevant and some of life's best moments are those little imperfections. It's ok to be down, or sad, or mad. Sometimes bad things happen, but it's never the end. It's ok to let go, it's ok to cry and it's ok to ask for help. There's no shame in having things in life to work on and I think, if you work it right, you never stop evolving or changing or learning until you die.
Today, let go of the idea of 'perfect', let go of ideal happiness and just be. Realize that no matter what is happening in your life, someone loves you and it's ok to love yourself and your life, even the imperfect parts. Embrace what is good and run with it, look inside yourself and realize that you are strong and kind and well, awesome.
I think sometimes we all try so hard; America is full of opportunity and go-getters; looking for that next step that will seemingly make everything fall into place. We try too hard and often forget to let life just come to us. Know that it'll come, whether we like it or not and there will be plenty of happiness and hard times; it's up to you to seek out the best in everything and I know you can. I believe in you.
I hope when you read this, dear kittens, that you know that you have it inside you. To make life exactly what you want it to be and it doesn't have to be complicated or 'perfect'; it can just be...you. Everything will be ok.

Roxanne, I love this post, but you probably figured I would :-) I also love that second photo, "Maybe everything that falls eventually rises." That is amazing, because I can tell you that it worked for me! There's this gospel song that I love, "We Fall Down, But We Get Up." Perfection isn't possible, so yes, be happy with who you are and life will get much easier!
